Updated: Nov 6, 2023

National and international representatives of diplomatic corps gathered on November 2 in Oslo to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Corps Consulaire de Norvège. Estonia was represented by Ms. Liisi Karindi, Dean of the Honorary Consular Corps in Estonia.

The celebration consisted of two official events: a reception by the Mayor of Oslo Mrs. Anne Lindboe at the Oslo City Hall, followed by a dinner reception of the Corps Consulaire de Norvège at Oslo Militære Samfund.

Around 150 guests and about 40 embassies were present at the reception by the mayor, whereas around 80 people were attending the dinner, including the presidents / deans of Nordic-Baltic corps consulaires as well as the President of the World Federation of Consuls (FICAC) Mr. Nikolaos K. Margaropoulos.

To emphasise the importance of international cooperation among the honorary consuls around the world, Mr. Margaropoulos presented the heads of corps consulaires with the FICAC crystal cube.

On November 3, the President of Corps Consulaire de Norvège Mr. Kjetil Krane organised an informal dinner at his home. This gave the participants an opportunity to further discuss future cooperation and share experiences related to their work as honorary consuls and heads of corps consulaires in their respective countries.

The next meeting of this format shall take place in Iceland in spring 2024 on the occasion of celebrating the 60th anniversary of Corps Consulaire d'Islande.

In addition to attending the celebrations, Ms. Karindi also paid a visit to the Estonian Embassy in Norway and met with H.E. Ambassador Mr. Lauri Bambus.
