The gathering offered an important opportunity to discuss Estonia’s international engagement and acknowledge the significant work honorary consuls perform across diplomatic, cultural, and economic fields.

The Honorary Consular Corps Estonia represents foreign nations within Estonia and plays a central role in facilitating international cooperation and strengthening Estonia’s global relationships.

The President’s Reflections on the Role of Honorary Consuls

Following the meeting, President Karis shared his thoughts on the significance of the honorary consuls’ work:

“Honorary consuls are part of our diplomatic family. Their work forms a bridge between Estonia and many foreign countries. I myself have served as the Honorary Consul of Chile in Estonia, and it was an opportunity to contribute to the development of relations between our two countries.

Today, I met with honorary consuls representing Cyprus, Morocco, Brazil, Bulgaria, Austria, Sweden, Hungary, Chile, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovakia, Finland, and Albania.

You are Estonia’s dignified representatives who help create new opportunities for strengthening economic, cultural, and political ties. I thank you for this dedication.”

President Karis’ words highlighted not only his own personal understanding of consular service but also the crucial role consuls play in Estonia’s international visibility and partnership building.

A Continued Commitment to Collaboration

During the meeting, discussions centred on the evolving needs of Estonia’s diplomatic landscape, opportunities for deeper cooperation, and the shared responsibility of advancing Estonia’s international interests.

The Honorary Consular Corps Estonia welcomed the President’s recognition and reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a reliable partner to the Estonian state, foreign communities, and the wider diplomatic network.
